LABORATORY FACILITIES
Laboratory and instrument facilities are provided in the laboratory department, for clinical researchers at Huddinge Hospital. Most of them are in the Novum building and some in house F. The department, in its new setting at NOVUM, was inaugurated in the beginning of the 90ies and cover more than 4000 m2. The department incorporates 50 laboratories, many office and instrument rooms, culture rooms for bacteria and viruses, and seminar and service rooms. The equipment comprises e.g. centrifuges, UV spectrometers, radioactivity counters, instrumentation for molecular biology and cell culture work. Some ten people are engaged in the maintenance of the department and include supervisor, accounting staff, messenger, dish washer, and a technician. The staff is responsible for the routines relating to dangerous chemicals, contagious matter, radioactivity, waste disposal etc. Approximately 200 people are working in the department.
