Unit for Molecular Cell Biology and Gene Therapy Science

Our laboratory has two research programs. The first relates to cell signalling. Cells constantly receive signals from the outer world and such information is transferred through receptors and further via biochemical pathways into the nucleus. We are studying the signals that guide B lymphocyte development. We are in particular interested in enzymes, such as the cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase Btk.

The second program relates to the transfer of genetic material. The aim is to treat patients in a safe way. We have developed a new gene therapy concept that we have designated Bioplex. This is a plasmid-based platform technology where we generate nano-particles carrying functional entities.
